DoGoo

Your kindness.
Your privacy.

This page describes how the DoGoo app and dogoo.org handle information.

What we store

Your chosen first name or nickname, deed descriptions, creation and acknowledgement dates, and connections between people. A random credential saved on your phone lets you return to your tree without a password. The service stores the matching identifier. It does not use your hardware phone ID.

Who can see it

There is no public feed. People in a kindness chain can see the names and deeds connected to their tree. A giver can see onward deeds. Recipients see their own branches and their immediate giver. Anyone holding an unused invitation QR can open it and become its recipient, so share it only with the intended person. Avoid putting private information about yourself or others in a deed.

Camera and photos

The camera reads QR codes when you choose to use it. If you choose a photo, its QR is decoded on the phone. DoGoo does not upload the photo or camera footage; it sends the decoded invitation identifier to the server.

Hosting and service providers

DoGoo runs on DigitalOcean and uses Cloudflare for secure delivery. These services may process network information, including IP addresses and operational/security logs, to deliver and protect the service. DoGoo has no advertising or third-party analytics SDK in its app.

Keeping and deleting information

Tree information is kept while you use DoGoo. In the app, About → Delete my data removes your name, authored deeds, saved identifiers and credentials from the active service. Deeds written by other people remain theirs, with your recipient name replaced by “Deleted person.” Other people’s onward deeds remain, with removed connections detached. Removing a deed from your tree only hides that deed for you; it is different from deleting your data.

Reports about abuse are stored for review and resolution. The deletion controls remove reports you submitted and reports attached to your deleted deeds. Copies people have independently saved, and existing server backups, cannot be changed by the in-app deletion action; backups are not used as the live service.

Permissions and questions

You can change camera access in iPhone Settings. The system photo picker shares only the photo you choose. For privacy or deletion questions: [email protected]
